Milestones in the company history of GEGGUS GmbH
The future needs a past
The most important stages of GEGGUS GmbH since the company was founded by Theodor Geggus in 1947. In the meantime the company is lead by the third generation. In the photo: founder Theodor Geggus with his sons Gerhard (on the platform) and Helmut.
1947
Foundation company "Gummi-Geggus", owner Theodor Geggus in Weingarten. Production of rubber plain coil mats out of truck tyre (armed forces) in the cellar of the parental home Burgstraße 12 in Weingarten
1954
Construction of the first production hall with office and the move to the new company premises in Höhefeldstraße.
1970
Takeover of the Gummi-Geggus company by Gerhard Geggus. The company continues in to the second generation.
1974
Production of honeycomb rubber mats in the former Yugoslavia.
1976
Extension of the factory building.
1982
A new truck is bought to meet the high demand in Germany with short delivery time.
1987
Construction of a new administration building.
1990
Market launch of the aluminium profilemats TOP CLEAN.
1993
Transformation of the sole proprietorship Gummi-Geggus into Geggus E∙M∙S GmbH with Gerhard Geggus as Managing Director.
1996
Foundation of Geggus E·M·S S.A.R.L. France in Strasbourg with Kai Geggus as Managing Director.
1998
Foundation of Swiss Matting Systems (SMS) in Auenstein, Switzerland.
2001
Transformation of the sole proprietorship SMS into SMS GmbH, Entrance Matting Systems Switzerland, with Kai Geggus as Managing Director.
2008
The distribution company in Switzerland, SMS GmbH, is renamed Geggus E·M·S GmbH Switzerland.
2010
Modernisation and expansion of the factory facility. There is now approx. 3,000 m² of covered and heated production area, approx. 500 m² of office space and approx. 250 m² of new social rooms available.
2013
New warehouse (approx. 800 m²) with state-of-the-art, movable racking systems and expansion of the production area by a further approx. 500 m².
2014
Geggus E·M·S is awarded the renowned TOP 100 innovation prize by a top-class jury. Geggus E·M·S receives the coveted BLUE ANGEL eco-label from the renowned testing institute RAL GmbH from Sankt Augustin. Geggus E·M·S is also active on Facebook.
2015
As part of the internationalisation process, Geggus E·M·S is renamed GEGGUS GmbH.
2019
Completion of the new GEGGUS Switzerland building in Hunzenschwil, directly on the A1 Zurich - Bern motorway. GEGGUS Switzerland GmbH moves into its new company building in December.
2020
The new website of GEGGUS GmbH launches in December after extensive revision and using the latest web technology.
2021
TSV Weingarten club centre becomes GEGGUS Sportpark. A new era in the history of TSV Weingarten begins with the construction of its new club centre.
2022
GEGGUS is celebrating its 75 years anniversary.
